Disability element tax credits

Can anyone explain how the disability element of working tax credits works when claiming as a couple please? My partner and I are both eligible for the disability element, but we're at the stage of our relationship where we're wanting to make it "official" that we're a couple rather than just seeing each other but want to do it properly and wondered how it is affected.

If you will be living together than you claim as a couple. You'll both get the disability element if you meet the criteria.

Not sure what exactly you are asking.

The claim will be affected in that you need to claim as a couple and your joint income will be considered.

If you meet the criteria for the disability element then you can both receive this but how much you actually get depends on your overall circumstances.
