A work colleague tells me I won't get my bogstandard 3 bedroom house in the midlands rewired for less than £8000 -£9000. Surely she jests?
I need a rough idea before I think of getting quotes, as by the time I've saved that much up, we'll all be extinct from global warming.

Cheaper buying a new house.
Sorry, just kidding. We have needed our victorian semi re-wired for a few years now but have yet to get a quote we can afford. Its working okay just that the newest bits are about 1960's so definately all needs redone. Our cheapest so far has been around £14,000.So it remains undone."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
It really depends what you want - One lamp holder, 1 light switch & 1 double socket in every room in white plastic? New consumer unit, earthing etc.
Or
Wall lights from Christopher Wray, 2 way dimmer switches in every room, several double sockets in each room (10 in the kitchen) made of brushed chrome.
You should be able to do it for about £3000-£4000 for the basics - get some local companies in to give you a quote, electricians (& plumbers in the main) really don't make what is reported in the papers!
