How much state pension do you get if youve paid no ni contributions?
My mrs hasnt paid any for years, but some people i know get pension despite not having worked for 20 years before retiring?
How does that work?

No contributions = no state pension
Of course there are other circumstances that may contribute towards some years credit for a state pension, check out the .gov pages on this
The current state pension system requires a minimum of ten years worth of NI contributions.
Hope that helps for starters, more knowledgable people will be along soon
Good luck fj0 -
Your wife is currently aged 49 and works part time in local government - she makes around £800 a month. Thanks for the replies, she only makes about £800 a month part time hours, just thought me paying avc would push me into paying tax in retirement in 10 years time, and would maybe be better paying more into hers.
Just had a look on her pension site she can pay top ups for 10 years which work out at £114 a month per £1000 extra pension a year, although she will only be 59 by then.
At £184 a week I'd have thought she would be paying NI.

If she had children then NI credits would have been available and presumably she has worked full time in the past.
She and you can obtain new state pension statements.

NI credits are and have been available in various situations.

Assuming you are getting child benefit and it's her name, she'll have been getting Class 3 NI credits each year until the youngest reaches 12
