Car hire in Valencia (anyone done it)

Options
Just booked for a few days in Valencia. Ideally need to hire a car from the airport (to be returned to the airport) but mindful of rip off fuel charges imposed by the car rental companies and more importantly need to ensure we hire free from all excesses -(nothing to pay in the event of damage being sustained to the car) - any help appreciated.

Economy car hire.co.uk and either Call them or choose a hire company on their site that operates the fair fuel policy and take out the extra insurance from Economy car hire, it's a pittance for piece if mind.

Always take extra few minutes to check over when you first hire for any marks etc and get it signed off before leaving with the car, and look as you leave it and take a few pictures of the car and the fuel gauge showing full if you opt to take full and return full option.

As above. Travel there a bit and got back yesterday. We just hired from Avis: pick up was onsite and no problems with fuel or the excess. We advised we had insurance to cover the excess and no pressure to buy extra cover etc. Hired from Goldcar last time and when we wouldn't buy their insurance they gave us a tatty old car. Thankfully no charges/arguments when we returned but it put me off them (as well as not being onsite at airport).

about renting in Italy and Spain- and in I caution about Goldcar's awful rep- mentioned above!
  • I am also concerned not only regarding for excess refund cover but I have heard stories of hire car companies charging for "loss of use" following damage sustained to their car - in other words whilst their car is undergoing repairs they charge the hirer an amount equal to the amount they would have been able to receive by hiring the car out had it not been off the road with repairs being carried out. I have looked at various stand alone companies offering excess waiver cover but none seem to offer cover for this eventuality.

Call the company I posted earlier and talk it through with them if you are concerned, I am not a employee of theirs but they offer a brilliant service and very helpful on advice on all rental matters.

Not sure if Rentalcar.com (Interrent) is in Alicante but if it is avoid it. had a nightmare with them in Almeria...........
Also it's cheaper to get all cover ins here before you go than over there
