My sons ten month old lab has suddenly started whining for no reason. My son and his partner think it is attention seeking but I am not so sure as she started when I was playing with her (I dog sit most weekdays) theyhave felt her all over for any signs of injury and she seems well in her self.Any ideas?

Get her checked over by the vet.0

You need to get her checked by a vet.
He will want to know exactly what she is doing when she starts whining- running, tugging, jumping etc
I was shown by my vet how to check my dog for pain and the subtle signs to look for. They are easily missed as it is a dog's instinct not to show pain. Labradors are especially stoic and often don't show pain.0 -
I would definitely recommend a vet check to rule out any medical cause, if it's a sudden behaviour change.
What else seems to be happened when she's whining? 10 months is the age where the second fear period can start, where hormones can kick in, etc. and you can often see behavioural issues worsen or start up.
Could it be that she's whining because your son had left her with you (some seperation/overattachment issues, perhaps)? Or was there a dog in the neighbourhood barking/whining (I work in an office with office dogs, and some of them are set off when they can hear the puppy classes going on outside), or some other environmental trigger?0
