Hi all,
Just got my payslip and got €800 in overtime money. Yay! A little bit more than I was expecting. Will use it towards the 2 nights away and the understairs storage.
Not really sure where we are with the debts. OH has expenses to claim back as well which he hasn't done yet. We'll definitely get his overdraft paid off this month and hopefully a dent into his Tesco credit card. Really looking forward to erasing another debt from our lives and also getting under £20K. I am particularly looking forward to getting rid of our UK debts as we moved back to Ireland 4.5 years ago so we really need to cut ties altogether. Hence these debts being paid off first, even if it doesn't look like it makes sense.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Delighted with myself. Have just paid off OH's overdraft and the Santander card. Both are UK debts so they are gone for good! Just got to get rid of my RBS o/d, the Virgin cc & OH's Tesco cc and all the UK debts will be gone.
And also have gone under £20k, also for the last time. The penny (excuse the pun!) has finally dropped with me and I am pushing on until all this money is paid off!
Not sure if we'll be able to pay off too much more this month but the goal next month is to get under £19K and to pay off OH's Tesco cc. After that we will target the Virgin CC and then my O/D.
If I can pay off approx. £1000 per month I am on track to be debt free before I turn 41 (just about!)Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

That's amazing. Well done CMD. And under £20k too. :T You must be so pleased.
£1000 a month is a fantastic amount to be able to pay off. You really are going for it this time aren't you?Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Hope everyone is well. We are just back from 2 nights away as the kids are on mid-term. We had a great time. The hotel was gorgeous and the kids made some friends so we all had a good time! Only 3 weeks now until we go to Spain. My parents are paying for this and it is all-inclusive so don't need to worry about spends thankfully or else I'd be dipping into the emergency fund which I don't want to do.
Trying to get OH to fill out his expenses and get on to the tax office as we need the expenses to pay for the understairs stotage. I feel like I have to prod him to do anything. One part of the expenses is nearly 2 months old! His tax is also all wrong, but again, getting him to sort it is painstaking.
I'm hoping to have enough left over at the end of the month to put €200 into the emergency fund.I am going to get a painter in to give a quote too but will get him to come end of June so I can save 1/2 from May pay and 1/2 from June pay. This house decorating is so expensive!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Morning all!
Still plodding along, waiting for OH's payday. Seems to have been a long month. Still hoping to have €200 leftover to go to the emergency fund. Not sure where we are with money but really want to get the painting done in June.
June is going to be expensive though. We have a consultant appointment for DD as she needs glasses. Have to go private as the public waiting list is so long. Costs €180 for one visit though. Then we'll have to pay for glasses. Car also failed the NCT the other day so need to pay for new tyres and bearings (whatever they are) and also a service for the car. I am due some overtime and OH still hasn't received his expenses back. His tax should also be sorted out and money received back in theory. But the lady that deals with his wages is so incompetent so not sure.
Can't see us paying off much more than the minimum payments next month unless the tax is sorted. It's ridiculous, going on since Jan.
On a really bright note, we are going on our holidays next week to Spain. First sun holiday in 4 years. My parents paid for it and it is all inclusive so shouldn't be spending much at all! And it's just after payday!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Wow! The holiday sounds fab. Especially as someone else paid for it
I hope you have a fantastic time.
Hope DD's glasses don't cost too much. Also hope that DH's expenses get sorted soon. That's a long time to be waiting for them!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

It is really an awful long time. Over two weeks now. In fairness though, OH should have put then in sooner.
My Mam and Dad are 40 years married this year so rather than have a party they wanted to take us all away. Really can't wait to feel a bit of heat on my bones!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi Clearmydebts,
I have had a read through some of you diary and this is the first one that i have commeneted on.
I'm in a similar situation myself, we have recently moved into our new home and didn't realise the amount of debt that we have (heads have burried in the sand) until we sat down and wrote it all on paper.
I'm finding that reading peoples diaries are helping me to get through tough days. we are determined to clear our debts as soon as we can and we are paying any spare money on clearing these its going to take a long time, between me and my bf we owe £37,000
I have taken on another job and my bf is working as much overtime as he can. I'm excited to get my first pay from 2nd job and clear a chunk.
Sorry for the long message, its feels good to finally get it of my chest!
I hope we can help eachother along.0 -

Hi Ash302,
Thanks so much for popping onto my diary. It sounds like we are in a very similar situation. Fair play to you for taking on another job. Definitely try and get all the debt gone before the bambinos arrive as it is so much harder then.
I also find reading other diaries very helpful, especially if I am starting to waver a bit. Have you started a diary yourself?Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Not been on in a month. We had a fantastic family holiday. The kids are at a great age and just loved the pool, water park, theme park and kids entertainment. We came back 2 weeks ago and money has been flying out the door since
We had to pay to get the house painted and wallpapered (budgeted for) and also had to bring DD to an opthamologist privately as the public waiting list is too long (€280). This was also budgeted for. What wasn't budgeted for was €600 for work on the car. So we are broke broke broke and haven't been able to pay beyond the minimum repayments.
We have one more piece of work needing doing to the house and after that we should be in a better position to pay bigger chunks off. My emergency money is still intact, which I'm delighted withTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
