You get charged based on your supplier's tariff, not necesarily by what is on the meter (if it is incorrect, or payments have gone missing). You should soon get a statement confirming the state of your account.

    Hi,

It may have been the mandatory 28 month safety check or just bringing your bill up to date.

Does your bill have a lot of estimates on it? If so, your credits never match your bill so your supplier have been trying to make it appear more accurate for you.

They stil have reading obligations no matter what type of meter so I wouldn't worry about it.

Meters still need reading as the cost that is coming off your tokens may not match the actual rate you should be paying.

For example your rate might be 12p/KwH but the meter is only deducting 10p/KwH this would be by the end of the year when you are due your statement you would have used more electricity than you have paid for, either you pay the difference or the meter is altered for the correct rate + slightly more to pay for the debt.

What used to happen before the costs Sky rocketed a few years back and the prices hardly ever changed was the meter was usually set slightly higher than the actual rate, for example the meter would be set at 13p/KwH when you actual rate was 12p/KwH, this meant by the end of the year when you get your statement you would be in credit, and the electricity company would send you out a cheque for the amount you overpaid.

Also depending on the type of meter you had it was known for some people to buy tokens off someone else's account card, or people bought stolen tokens for half price, this however means this electricity it's not accounted for on your account, so you may have paid a friend to get a card on their account or bought stolen cards, but you'll find you'll actually have to pay for that electricity used as it won't be on your account as money paid towards your electricity account - you could be paying twice - but that's what happens with stolen tokens etc.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
