How to achieve blackout effect with shutters

I have plantation shutters on most windows in my house, which are great.
I have had a baby who will soon be going into his own room, and need a blackout effect in his room. I have been using a temporary blackout blind so far but it is not a long term solution.
The window is very large so isn't suitable for one roller blind, I had thought about perfect fit?
Any other ideas? Thanks

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

Congratulations on the baby.
I would just put some curtains up too. Is there any reason you can't do curtains?
Babies don't need full darkness though. They will sleep through whatever if they're tired so I wouldn't over think it if you don't have too. They can fall asleep in the street in the middle of July, so a bit of light in the bedroom shouldn't be a problem.
You could also get a made to measure blind online which shouldn't be too expensive.0 -
You can get black out lining curtains that attach to your existing curtains - Dunelm sell them.0

Don't do it. You are making a rod for your own back. If you get a baby used to only sleeping in complete darkness, then you will have terrible problems any time you want to go on holiday or stay at overnight at someone else's house.
As stated babies will sleep when they are tired, and if you can get them used to a bit of light and a fair bit of noise at this stage, then you will be able to take them anywhere as they get older!0 -
As above. Mine would sleep through most things. Visiting friends have been up at all hours because they forgot to bring their travel blackout blinds.
My son even slept through the local carnival, which featured stacks of speakers 12 feet high passing about the same distance away - think music you feel rather than hear!0
