Gave details/signiture to salesman on street? concerned?
Hello all,
hoping someone can help, my partner was stopped by someone on the street saying they worked on be half of Scottish Power and EE and can give her a better deal on her Gas and Broadband.
They asked her to sign a tablet looking device and she gave her name and address.
I am concerned now that she gave her name and details and a signature. The person had a badge which said something like "Inter Data".
I am concerned what she may have signed up to or if this person was not genuine?
Has anyone been approached by this company or something similar and given their signature? or has someone maybe worked for something like this and its common to give a signature? Just concerned this wasn't a genuine thing?

It should be fine. One of my friends works for one of these sales companies, signing people up for credit cards/charity DD's/Energy suppliers in the street. However it's not the best way to get a good deal so it may be worth cancelling the contracts and doing a comparison online instead. There will be a cooling off period you just need to call the companies involved.Make £10 per day-

Does your friend get a signature when shes out doing those things?
I asked her "did you give him your name and address?" as I was thinking hope not or a load more junk mail will be through the door, she said she did, she said she also gave her phone number, I said well did you sign anything, she said she did, signed one of those electronic things with her finger.
Really hope she hasn't signed up to anything or wont be subject to ID theft or something.
He said she will now be contacted with better quotes for her BroadBand and Energy.
But Im wondering how do you know if he was genuine, could have been anyone saying they were working on behalf of Scottish Power etc?? and why would he need a signature for just contacting her for some quotes?
I rang Scottish Power but they said they wouldn't know if they had anyone working on the streets for them0 -
yes, signature, bank details, everything. Wait a few days for the contracts to be processed on the companies systems and call them to check. Saying it's for quotes only sounds like it might be his dodgy sales tactic to sign people up without realising.Make £10 per day-

I would be worried if I was in your mates situation as I'd have to be in a trance to give information to these people. Have seen them in many towns and I think I've got a phone in my pocket and can by my own broadband, mobile, phone, energy and insurance meerkating but keep quite and say no thank you.
As well as the cash back equivalent in commission for over priced products, there’s a possibility personal details and bank information could be traded on to sell you stuff and fund terrorism etc etc. My advise, get a new identity and bank account.0
