Hi,
I have a closed account which has a status of "satisfied", does this show up when a credit check is made? It was defaulted on 01/02/2011.
Thanks

Yes my understanding is a default stays on file for 6 years ...should come off file around March / April 2017Grocery challenge Feb £107/£100-epic fail due to cake and biscuits

I'm not sure if it drops off after 6 years of the account being closed as opposed to 6 years from the default. If the account was active that would be the case but a niggle in me says that the closed account stays stagnant for 6 years from closure? That means the history showing on closure (which could include a default) is visible? Lenders are likely to look at this too if it shows as 'satisfied' rather than 'settled'.0

I'd imagine the default will disappear from the credit file(s) in February/March 2017 and then the actual 'closed' account will disappear come 2022.
The default will not be reported beyond March 2017 I'd imagine. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
