    It's pretty clear that you have to have switched if you want the £36.
    cashback will only be issued once your account is successfully opened and you have switched from your existing bank.

    I would suggest Santander will only consider that you have switched if you have used their switch service. They are only offering full switches, no partial ones.

    It is, of course, no problem to meet the full switch requirements if you are determined to meet them.

    The only reason to keep an FD current account is the 6% linked Regular Saver.

    There is as far as I recall the matter of a free £250 overdraft, which is helpful for some I guess.
