I'm guessing there's an element of distrust so to what extent they are expecting a solicitor to deal with the estate is unclear but yes my suggestion is you, as executor, would employ a solicitor at their request and the expense of doing so would come out of those individuals' inheritances that want the solicitor employed and those not at the expense of others who are happy for you to deal with the estate.0

I'm not sure if it is possible to split estate expenses that way. Personally I would not waste any my time on getting solicitors involved and simply ignor any more nonsense from a bunch of grasping ingrates.0 -

Hi all
Months ago, I put the standard form notice in the London Gazette (actually, it's just called The Gazette, Official Public Record). At the time I also looked for a local paper to put an ad in too but couldn't find a local paper that did such ads. Now a beneficiary is 'advising' me that I ought to have put ad in local paper.
The deceased lived in London.
Any ideas? Thank you.
I dealt with an estate where the deceased lived in London and I did choose to use a local paper as well. The cost, to the estate, as small and it gave me peace of mind.
There will almost certainly be a local paper connected to the borough the deceased lived in. What's on sale in local news agents?0 -
