That is really helpful. Looking at the link above, it looks like it was permitted development. That's good news! Thank you for your help.

Sorry to ask another silly question, is the full plans approval notice the same as planning permission?

    Thank you

In reading through this thread I didn't see if anyone gave an explicit answer to the above question. Apologies if someone did!

Planning permission and Building regulations approval are two completely separate things. You usually would obtain planning permission for work to be carried out, then afterwards involve building control, to carry out a plan inspection (to ensure the design on paper meets building regs.), and then to issue a full completion certificate on completion of the works, when they have reviewed works on site to ensure they have proceeded as per plans.

Planning approval does not automatically imply building regulations approval and vice versa.
  • Does your council have a website with planning applications on it? You could search for your address and get copies if it was required and was obtained.

our council goes back to 1991 so it would be there,

That's because there won't be anything.

This isn't hard. People are feeding you red herrings.

I appreciate that to you I may be talking rubbish as much as anyone else, but I promise, I do speak from experience.

That last poster who suggested it didn't even read the thread, just posted. They must have done or I'm shouting into an empty space.

As Doozergirl says, you can not provide what doesn't exist. Permitted Development is development you are allowed to carry out without planning permission. To the OP you have the important paperwork by way of building control sign off. Don't worry about it.
