New energy accounts = negative points on credit score?

We recently switched our energy provider, as so often advised to do by MSE to get the best price, and when I checked my credit score it's got a negative on there because the new energy provider comes up as two new credit accounts in the last six months.

I'm not querying whether it's correct that I have two new credit accounts, because I get it - one for gas one for electric - but it just seems a bit unfair to put a negative point on someone's credit score just for switching energy provider. I wasn't aware that this was going to happen at all and if I had known (again - I get it, my error most likely) then I wouldn't have switched because I also knew I would need to apply for a large Career Development Loan in the following couple of months. (Which I have since done and been refused for - the only negative on my file is these two credit accounts within six months.)

I'm not really sure what to do about it - is there anything you can do about it?

Ignore it. You credit score is in the same category as the Tooth Fairy and The Easter Bunny. No ones sees it and it doesn't matter.

Carry on switching energy providers whenever you need to.

But next time switch to EDF, a company that doesn't corrupt credit files. Your strategy should be to minimise reporting of non-financial companies to the CRA files holding data about you. To that end, choose EDF and Sky, although the latter does come with a raft of other problems, apparently.
