Cut phone line outside of house, wrong thing to do?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, unsure to put in DIY or Internet.
We recently bought a house that had wires everywhere! Broken alarms, aerials, phone, you name it. I starting gutting it, aiming to put up wireless alarm, maintain 1 ariel lead and eventually get BT to install new line.
However, having done a little checking online, i think i way have messed up! Did i shoot myself in the foot by cutting the BT line outside? It was just so assuming BT would just install another when I sign up. Can this be repaired OK?
Thanks

BT can repair it. Only BT can really repair it as it is their property. They might not be that happy if they work out that you cut it and try and bill you.0

They'll bill you for a new line...that's all. Reconnecting a working line with a dial tone is usually free.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Billing for a new line will typically depend on the attitude of the guy send to sort it out.
In my last house there was the old style wired in phone there when I arrived.
I removed it and so just had wires, however unlike you coming into the house and the guy fitted a box fine and I was not charged.0 -
Yep, strictly speaking the man in a van should note it as something for the OP to pay for, but if you get a friendly one they may not. Expect to pay for it though.Billing for a new line will typically depend on the attitude of the guy send to sort it out.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

If BT instal a landline for a customer that's never had BT before and they need to take a line from the pole to the home, isn't that covered in the initial installation costs?
If so, why would they charge more for reconnecting one, someone's cut?All your base are belong to us.0 -
