Yes, ignore debt collector and QDR 'solicitors' letters. They do not file court claims.

Read any CEL claim thread though, as CEL do file claims nowadays, but always discontinue when they see a fairly template forum defence for CEL cases. No worries but make sure a court claim is not ignored, nor that the recipient panics & pays!

ALL ARE DISCONTINUED IF YOU PLAY IT RIGHT.

    Thank you for that information.

My last letter was sent to CEL 21 months ago...I assume they would have issued if they intended to...and not passed on to debt collector agency but we'l see.

"Creditors" have 6 years to take legal action.

Unless you get a lbcca or court correspondence you ignore everything - all explained in #4 of the FAQ

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

I disagree, I think the fact they have reinstated the letters means you will get a claim this year, and then you will follow our easy advice with no panic at all, and they will finally crawl back under their stone, for good.

Further to my comments above, my daughter has now
received a claim form from CEL. I would be
grateful for any assistance in respect of filing
    a defence

    TIA

Easy - see the second post of the NEWBIES thread.

She must do the acknowledgement then show us her defence draft, like you will see everyone else does. We do win!

As long as she knows to do that on MCOL and not post the form back snail mail?
People who do that often (wrongly) put something in the defence box...even TBA ruins it - 'TBA' would then be recorded as the defence and could not be changed.

She has already posted to the court by recorded delivery stating that she intends to defend all of the claim?
