Please help boiler flue installed incorrectly
Hello,
I know there are some similar posts around, However I need help as this is slightly different.
I live in a flat which I own, however the building I live in is owned by a company,
Recently my boiler started leaking ( 2 weeks ago), Its the Flue that has leaked, as it has been installed incorrectly so has been moving around in the wind, the flat was built 9 years ago so it has lasted that long ( But it was clear to 3 plumbers it was installed wrong).
I rang the company who own the building who messed around getting 2 quotes for the work, it took them two weeks. They now finally say I have to pay for the work to be completed as the flue only serves my flat, Is this correct as its not my fault its installed wrong.
(I purchased 1 year ago)
any help massively appreciated.
Thankyouuu!!!!

You'd need to refer to your lease, but the fact that it's 'not your fault' does not mean that you are not responsible for the repair, since you bought the property 'as seen'. You may not be obliged to use the managing agent's own RGI though, and if so it'll almost certainly be cheaper to arrange your own repair.
Personally I doubt that the flue is legally a communal part and covered by the freeholder via your service charge, unlike the external wall that it passes through. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
