Is this correct - Insurance?

Hi,

I have home insurance with directline - the insurance plus one.

I am off to DLP and was about to get travel insurance with them but it seems to be included in the insuance plus scheme? Didn't realise, is this correct? Anyone had or used it?

https://www.directline.com/lib/pdf/dl-home-plus-summary.pdf - section 6

Is this sufficient or do I need a separate policy?

Soz to be a newbie with the question.

Thanks for any info,

CR

It looks like a reasonable travel policy to me.

I'd ring them and check though.

looks fine and dandy assuming none of the exclusions apply to you, also make sure youve got an EHIC to cover the bases

Check that section is covered - sometime you get a Schedule which says only certain sections are covered.
  • Ive got EHIC cards for us all too, but that cover looked to good to be true as they wanted to charge us about £90-100 for the weeks holiday. Bonus!

I will ring them but wanted a 2nd opinion first.

Will be able to get some mickey mouse ears now :-)

Who wanted to charge you £90 for a weeks travel insurance to France? Seems a lot of money? Unless you have pre-existing medical conditions?

have very very mild asthma, never been in hospital so maybe that contributed.

I will double check that with them

It is essential with any Travel Insurance Policy that you discuss even minor health problems past or present that any member of the family has experienced.
In the event of a claim Medical Records will be checked and any health problem not disclosed would void the Policy.

Look very closely on this one - I understand that Directline's Home Plus policy which includes 'free' worldwide travel insurance doesn't charge for pre existing conditions (no surprise their), but won't allow you to pay an additional premium to then cover the pre-existing condition.

You can add a pre existing medical condition to a travel policy (possibly / probably for a charge), but you can't add it to the 'free' travel insurance policy if you have Home Plus insurance.

It's up to you to decide if the level of cover/risk is suitable for you.

I'll try and find the definitiive link.
  • Thanks mtc

Will be checking when I renew insurance this week.

Do you know if anything pre existing which happened a long time ago will be covered?

In all honesty, I wouldn't know -- plus, you're much better speaking to the insurance company, rather than a random person from t'interweb ;)
