Many thanks for all your replies, too many to reply to individually.
Some of it is a bit technical for me, but I will go through all the info and decide on what course to take to get the CV in 'readable' form by them. I didn't realise that they may edit it, that's interesting.
She won't just be using an agency but wants to keep all her options open. They did find her a good job once before many years ago.
Thank you againMoney, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -
I don't know of any way of converting a Works document to a PDF. Works is effectively obsolete (and has been for years) and is incompatible with all other WP programs.
I bet a virtual printer such as doPDF might do the job.:)

I can't remember if it still downloads some *extra* e.g.toolbars etc. I'm still using v7 which was clear.
edit: Just tried and it converts .txt file from Notepad++ to pdf.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I think you are assuming this job agent is working on an up to date PC.
On the other hand, he/she could have been hired for a willingness to work for minimum wage, and IT skills are a secondary consideration.
I asked a car salesman to make sure the dash cam I ordered was fitted. He said it was, and when I turned up, he pointed to a built-in collision radar, and claimed that was the dash cam. The level of incompetence tolerated by EVERYBODY is terrifying.
You can print it out, and scan it as a .jpg file, and send that.
More than one page? It took me years to realise, nobody wants to know.0 -
You can save MS Works files as either .rtf or .doc formats, but the default .wps format is not supported by modern WP software. So, generally, Works is OK for creating documents to be printed and sent by snail mail, but few people will be able to open and read the native file format for files that are sent as email attachments. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
