Moving from Npower to SSE 45 days to close down account!
I have changed suppliers from Npower to SSE for dual fuel and compared to other changes this has gone fairly fast. Started 13 March and SSE had my supply from 04 April.
Now I am trying to chase up my refund from Npower. They say it will take up to 45 days for this to happen!
What takes so long? Is everything done by post? Do power companies not use electronic comincation?
Have also emailed SSE to find out if they have given Npower the closing reading. I had already done it as I normally gave them a reading each week. I gave them the same reading I gave to SSE to open my accounts.
Does anyone else think 45 days is to long?

Hi Merlin139
Thanks for your post.
We need to wait for the relevant information from your new supplier before fully closing your account and producing your final bill. This normally takes 7-10 days, but Ofgem allow 28 working days for the new supplier to provide the old one with these details. We'll always set customer's expectations by quoting the maximum timescales for everything, just in case of any issues.
If you can contact us via our profile page with your account details and the closing meter readings, I'll get this updated for you and any credit will be refunded back to you.
Please put MSE in the subject header so we know where to refer back to.
Kind regards
