Could we get our gas cheaper?
We are currently with sse on a 1 year fixed v2 until October with £30 cancellation fee.
Just wanted to get some idea of whether our gas usage is high or not as got latest bill and we owe them £45.
Obviously in the winter you use more but we work shifts so a lot of the time we are not here so just wondering whether we could cut the cost down.
It may be because we only pay £37 a month.
Just wondering whether we pay enough or too much? We have a 2 bed end of terraced house.
We've used 97 units since our last reading and this covers January to april and the total gas charge is £134.is it a case of we just need to up our payments or does this seem a high amount when we are hardly here?
Not really got a clue on the different kwh usage etc.
It says standard energy 3056.72 kwh at 3.5p £106.98
Reduced standing charge 88 days at 23.49p £20.67 if that helps lol.
Cheers

A £45 debt at this time of the year isn't too bad, it will be quickly eaten away by your Debits as the weather warms up
The cost of your Standing Charge is reasonable, but your 3.5p price per Gas KWh is not
Even if the 3.5p includes VAT, (which I suspect it does not), there a plenty of suppliers with a cheaper price and chances are that SSE's current tariffs charge less.
With summer coming it's not worth taking the Cancellation Fee hit to change supplier, as it will be months before you win enough to get the Cancel fee back
However, phone SSE and ask if they can put you on a current Fixed Tariff with lower prices - If they won't, be prepaired to change supplier penalty free 49-42 days before your present Fix ends, and in the meantime work out just how many Gas & Elec KWh you are useing each year.for a visit to the comparision sites - I always use 3, but switchwithwhich is always one of them0 -
Zog Energy Gas circa 2,27 pkwh and standing charge 10p per day is what i am paying .0

Before asking your provider to transfer you to another fix, while still in term, do check the T&Cs, as some are now charging an exit fee even if you just change tariff and don't leave that provider.0

Consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you
Of course, consider any early exit fee that may currently apply, but after possible cashback for switching that will probably cover at least half or more of such early exit fee, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.0
