Car Insurance hell

I have been through hell with Churchill. i complain a few times a year to them, Ombudsman, Assoc of Insurers. After over 10 yrs i am leaving, partner has to stay to incur his NCB. they have discriminated , by poss postcode, car, everything. a few yrs ago they had audacity to make me write a letter explaining WHY i had old cars! that gave me power to tell them off royally; old cars more reliable, new car lights are a health hazard/blinding. they wont ask me that again!

I have never claimed, p/c OL6, locked garage by Police station what the hell do Insurance Companies want!

At this point i would willing contact Police and say I am driving w/o insurance because Ins companies are scammers and i hate dishonesty!

I refuse to bend over to them esp all this rubbish about paying up front! i got a credit card just for them but of course it is 500 limit and Churchill the flipping *&^ wouldnt accept that, i Tweeted them to hell. i am leaving them in a few weeks and they wont know what hit them! They picked the wrong person to upset!!!

this company is stressing me and i refuse to get ill over them!
Watch this space. The govmt has the nerve to back this kinda scheize! people 20/30yrs younger get better insurance and cars than me.An older Porsche is cheaper to insure than my Yreg Fiesta! parents live in Germany and everything is much fairer for a Cayenne! i didn't think at 50 i'd have to fight just to live a normal life.
The things i'd like to do to the Churchill Company is unspeakable on here!

Any advice would be awesome to help my sanity.:)

At a guess "Any advice would be awesome to help my sanity" was meant to be the question.
However, I can't make any sense out of the preceding rant, other than that the OP has some gripe against Winston, so gawd knows.

Sounds like staying with them might be the best punishment.
  • From what I can gather, I think you're annoyed at price increases for postcode/age of vehicle/not being able to pay instalments.

Insurance is based on statistics. Why should they make it the same price for anyone to insure any vehicle? It makes no sense. People tend to think it's based on personal circumstances ('someone with a Porche can cheaper insurance than me with my fiesta' ). Basically if you don't like how a company prices risk, move.

They may, as a company rate highly on older cars (less safety features, possibly prone to mechanical faults, driven with little care due to value). However, you could ring another company that may be happy to insure you on an older car at a decent price. You are not a special snowflake that is entitled to cheap insurance because your car is old.

In regards to postcode, same applies. Live in an area where many cars crash/get stolen/vandalised? Your premium will reflect this. Live in a low risk area, price will reflect this. Some insurance companies for example, won't insure cars in Bradford. Some will. Look elsewhere.

Finally with instalments, if you can only get a credit card with a £500 limit I'm going to take a punt and say you have such a bad credit rating that they won't offer you instalments, or that you have no credit rating. Same applies. They are not obliged to offer you credit, just like your bank is not obliged to loan you £10,000 - you need to fit the criteria. I feel like your years of complaining and getting nowhere (possibly having invalid complaints) could've been so easily avoided by switching companies...!

I insure my car with Churchill, and have no problems getting them to charge my credit card when I renew my insurance - is the £500 limit relevant in any way to why Churchill refused it??

May be a crazy idea but have you ever tried getting quotes from other insurers?

They have hundreds of thousands of customers. I doubt they would even notice you leaving them.

The older your car, the less likely the insurer will be able to repair if in an accident, as parts won't be readily available as they are for newer cars. Therefore, if in an accident, the car i more likely to be a write off, therefore having to pay out more money.

Car insurance is based on risk. Why don't you get quotes with other insurers? That way you'd see if the Churchill quote is reasonable in line with the market for you and your car.
