Landlord Issues

Just wanted to share this story with MSE posters as it may help.
For the last 2 years I have been having issues with my landlord refusing to fix a badly leaking window in my son's bedroom.
Each time I called him he just refused to do anything.
My son is only 5 and has Asthma so you can imagine the problems this was causing. I tried to fix the window myself but it's an old sash one and it just would no longer close properly.
There was damp everywhere, the wallpaer was peeling off and the carpets and furntiure has mold.
Eventually I contacted a law firm who specialise in this kind of issue and within 3 weeks everything was sorted
I felt such a fool for suffering in silence for so long and very guilty aboutmy son but at last it's sorted.
Anyone else out there having similar issues please get advice quickly as it's easier thn you thing

Sounds nice but there's a huge elephant in the room.......
You have to get your Council to do something before any protection applies which...... given the cuts already and they're facing in the future will not be an easy task - if possible at all imho.0 -
Are you saying that the solicitor contacted them, threatened them with some lawsuit, and they got so scared, they came and fixed the window in a matter of weeks and is now acting like a nice pleasant landlord?
If that is the case, then indeed, a successful outcome, but unfortunately, in most circumstances, this would likely be followed with a S21 by the end of fix term.
Let's hope the damp issue will be resolved now.0
