in Credit cards
Hello,
I took out a Natwest Credit Card in Feb 2009 and immediately ran up the £750 limit worth of debt. I stopped using the card when I ran up the debt and after moving house several times i no longer have any documentation regarding the account or have the card. (I didn't inform Natwest of the change to my address so I have never received a new card, statements etc).
Each month since 2009 a direct debit of varying amounts from £13-£40 have been taken by Natwest (NWB CSD operations - is the direct debit name). My credit report is showing the account is up to date with a £603 balance.
I rang Natwest to sort this out this week but they could not locate me or the account and told me to write in.
Does anybody have any advice?

Do what they told you?
That said, I don't quite understand what "write in" means, but you surely asked them to clarify this.0 -
Apologies, I have written in with the details of when the account was opened, address etc.
I am posting to see if anybody else has had a similar experience? Natwest said that the account may have been written off. If that was the case would it still show in my credit report as up to date?
Would I be able to claim the money back if this is the case?0 -
If it was written off, who was taking the DDs then?
I think you were told bu11shit.0 -
It sounds like you may have a DD setup for the minimum payment. Have you been with the same bank for all this time?
What is it that you think you can claim back?0 -
Well since 2009 the money has left my Santander account to Natwest via direct debit. If the account is written off or closed where is the money going? The call handlers at Natwest could find no record of the account but the direct debits have been leaving each month since 2009.
I was wondering if anybody had any similar experiences.0 -
Could the account have been closed off to the bank's collections?
That way branch staff would not have access to the card and details of the outstanding debt.
Can't explain how they are taking payments from you unless in the distant past you entered into an agreement with them.0 -
I managed to find the card number from the direct debit reference and phoned Natwest again. They have told me to call back tomorrow as I need to speak to the 'Gone away' team?
I dont recall entering into an agreement to pay it off. Ideally I would like to pay the balance off in one or two goes and be reissued with a new card to use as a primary credit card.0 -

IMO you have no chance of this happening - gone away team is a nice name for spenders that run away without paying.
They will take your money and manage you away.
Check your credit files - is ther anything about this card on there?0 -
