How to shop around and switch?

2»

Comments

  • I've done a bit more shopping around and found the cheapest suppliers on uSwitch (prices were more expensive via Cheap Energy Club):

    Separate suppliers
Iresa (electric): £30.44 per month (£365.23 per year)
daligas (gas): £29.58 per month (£355 per year)

    Dual fuel
    Iresa: £63.06 per month (£756.70)

Is it worth going with separate suppliers for such a small saving?
  • A £36 savings is more than 1 month's electricity so worth saving.

Did you actually have meter reading figures or went off estimates like "3 bed semi"? If the latter then ignore the prices as the different comparison sites will have different estimations. The main parts are unit rate & standing charge...if both are lower on 1 supplier then that is the cheapest; if 1 is cheaper but the other more expensive then it gets more awkward but generally unit rate would be more important than standing charge. For example this month I had:
    Gas: £8.80 standing, £15 usage
    Elec: £8.80 standing, £36 usage
The month before (oddly my cheapest month):
    Gas: £7.40 standing, £5.30 usage
    Elec: £7.40 standing, £24 usage
    Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
    Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)

I had my annual summary from npower in July this year, so I've used those figures to base my quotes on.

    So have you switched yet?

I just use the MSE energy club. You get cash back and warnings to tell you when to change.

I haven't switched yet, admittedly. I read mixed reviews about Daligas, which put me off slightly.
