    A pointless court case for the landlady if she sues a student with no money. So she is very unlikely to do this.

    I would have the father write a letter to the landlady stating that due to daughters mental health issues she is withdrawing and will not be in a position to find another tenant but as there is plenty of time landlady can perhaps discuss with the other students about finding replacement, but that there will be no more correspondence as the stres is exacerbating her issues.

    Just to end this thread and a quick update. My daughters house-mates have found a friend to take her place and the landlady has accepted. Unfortunately her house mates have given her a hard time over this like she thought they would, young immature girls for ya and didn't tell her for a week keeping her worried. Anyway the landlady gave her £100 back from her deposit keeping £50 for admin fees, which i thought was fair enough. Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who commented and helped, it was very much appreciated and it did help. Thank you.
