Forgotten admin password Windows 7

I've forgotten my admin password to my windows 7 computer.
I was fed up of the kids using the admin account, this school holidays so decided to change the password. In all the stress I have forgotten the password.
I have tried to guess it and have googled what to do. I have tried loading up in safe mode but for some reason my windows 7 computer doesn't give me the option of safe mode. :( I don't have a password reset disk.
Please help!

what difference would the make or model of the COMPUTER matter,

this is a OPERATING system fault (or lost password)

is there a different method of fixing this , between say a dell or a Lenovo?

Yes. wealdroam was asking in so that he could search for the exact key combination for the OP in order to boot off a CD, USB drive or even a floppy disc.
Knowing the exact machine would enable him to give concise guidance.
Whereas I don't see the merit in your post at all.

The OP needs Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor

One question for OP, is it Windows 7 home or Windows 7 Professional?
The first has an unencrypted disk, the second may be encrypted. Unencrypted has a better chance.

Windows 7 Bitlocker requires Windows 7 Ultimate or Enterprise. So not even a possibility..

    Hi

    Quite right.

OphCrack (Ophcrack is a famous free Window 7 password recovery program) and is somewhat irrespective of make or model.

    OR maybe this is valid.
Windows 7 OS has a built-in administrator account which has no password for it. This account was created during Windows installation, and was disabled by default. You need to enable that account before reset other admin account password.
    1. Start your computer and press "F8" while the computer boots up. The Advanced Boot Options screen appears.
    2. Use the arrow keys to highlight the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" and press "Enter." Your computer will starts in Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

    3. Select the Administrator account that appear in the screen, then enter command prompt.

    4. Type the commands for bypassing windows 7 passwords:

    "net user Mosoh 123456"

and enter, it will show you a message that the command completed successfully. Your details.

    5. Restart your computer, then you can log in Mosoh with the password 123456. You can also go to Control Panel to change your account password if necessary.

Just because someone has a view or opinion that, while being correct, is contrary to your own, using the word 'idiot' to label them is hardly nice etiquette.

Did you mean to write 'incorrect'?
