Help working tax credits out

Hi
I have just called to give last year's income which was £30k not £26k as estimated. Told I can't update till I get my renewal pack, fine. Could somebody work out what our tc likely to be.

Last year income 15/16
£30k-oh
£2000-me
We have disabled child receiving high rate dla, so he gets the severe premium and I get care allow now.
This year income 16/17
£30k
£3,400 care a
We pay childcare £408 a month, I'm down as incapacitated because of the carers.
So with the overpayment how will that work? Will they deduct the 4k off our future payments?
Thanks for ur help! :D

Just to clarify you say the income has increased from the £26,000 you estimated to £30,000.

However the figures you have quoted add up to £32,000 so actually a £6,000 increase.

We couldn't calculate any overpayment without knowing the 2014/15 income.

Also they are correct, you cannot update the 2015/16 until you get the renewal. They can however update the estimated income for the current tax year 2016/17s
  • Hi... Thanks
    To clarify..
£26k was estimated for 15/16 for my husband
£2k for me,, so total £28k

    16/17 estimate £33,400 total

    14/15 income was £36k
  • Yes I have given them £30k estimate for this year.

    So 2014/15 was £36,000.

2015/16 was estimated as £28,000. The claim at that point would have been based on £30,500 due to the £2500 disregard.

It will now be recalculated on £34,500 which will give an overpayment of approx £1640.

This will be deducted from this year's award.

If you expect to earn £33,400 this year you need to give that as an estimate, not £30,000.
  • Yes I have given them £30k plus £3400 from. me

What would that work out to be a month in tax credits

Payments this year will be based on £32,000. That'd be approx £687 per month but will be less for you due to overpayment.
  • Many thanks for ur help! Appreciate it!
