emptying recycling into bin without noise

Hi there, since our council provided us with a large wheelie bin (up to waist height) for recycling of glass, paper, cardboard etc... we keep our recycling in the house in a plastic bin and empty it into the large wheelie bin regularly. however, every time we do this, it's very noisy. mostly because of the glass hitting the bottom of the bin. When the bin is half empty it's okay.
I was wondering if anyone else dealt with this or had solutions. Apart from hand planting each item to the bottom of the bin, or having some sort of smaller indoor bin that opened up from the bottom so the trash would fall less distance, does anyone else have this issue or any solutions.

I think you're worrying about this too much.
You could pad the bottom (glue some bubble wrap to it) but that's only going to help when you empty the first load and it's still not going to be quiet.
Maybe just don't do it at 3am?0 -
Why are you bothered? It is just a short time.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Perhaps the op doesn't want the neighbours knowing they are a pair of lushes?
My mum used to drop her bottles off at the recycling centre rather then get caught by the neighbours0 -
!!!!!!? Has somebody complained? This is just a fact of life. It is just as noisy when your neighbour empties her bin, so get over it!0

When the bin is empty, I slide my beer bottles down the side to ensure they stay upright, and of course to minimise the next door neighbours chance of doing a bottle count. The amount I drink, it doesn't take long before I can just place them delicately on top of the others. I must be as sad as you dada!0

Why don't you just put things straight into the wheely bin instead of using an inside bin first? I have one of those garden storage boxes outside my door for the numerous recycling boxes/bags. It's no effort to take things straight to the door instead of putting them into another bin first.0

Sorry, to edit my previous post, I use a long stick to ease down the first levels!0

Does everyone else around you worry about lobbing things into their bins?
It's life, it is 2 or three seconds. No worries.
I think it's the bottles that is bothering you! Drinkers unite.... Bring to bottle bank then. Otherwise it's just paper and plastic and cans. Least that is where I am.
But they do NOT take glass. So I have to load the boot in the dead of night to take to the bottle bank, just in case anything rattles and they discover my dark secrets. LOL.0 -
David Aston, that's great.
actually, there are multiple reasons i ask. the noise, for myself, for my neighbours also. and yes, i do have a tendency to do it at night. i can personally find it a bit loud, whatever time of day.0
