custom built PC

Hi
Asking on behalf of my brother, he needs a new PC
I had one built not too long ago and so far its the best PC Ive owned, notably because of its Solid State drive which makes it nice and quick to boot
mine cost around £550 at the time, I think he would spend around £400 on a custom PC, but I'm abit of a technophobe when it comes to PC specs etc
He mostly uses for youtube/streaming etc and word processing but not much more than that so doesn't need anything extreme
Does anyone have some ideas on wich processor/specs/etc she should look at getting?
Ive got an intel i5 with an SSD and love it, but I'm not sure he even needs an i5
cheers

He doesn't actually need a custom build if that's all he intends to do.
What about something like THIS on Amazon? Around the £400 budget and room for expansion if he fancies it in the future, although it is overkill for what he needs.
It would save a lot of messing about.0 -
Thanks will take a look , didn't realise pcs came with SSD's now unles they were custom built (shows what I know)0

The ones on Amazon tend to be bedroom sellers who spec and build the machine themselves. So in that respect these are 'custom built', just to the sellers idea of what sells!
That said, they will use the same components you would be buying yourself but will have put them all together and tested the system before shipping. Sometimes worth it for a small percentage on top of the price of the individual components. Shop around, there are lots of variants on Amazon (and of course other selling platforms are available).0 -
He won't need i5.
For what he is doing, probably any pre-build pc will do job.
If he going to get custom build, i suggest 6th gen i3 with 8GB DDR4 RAM and SSD.
It would probably about £450...
i just saw this at ebuyer, he can consider this as it is good value
add external HDD for storage. But the downside is difficult to upgrade as SFF case and low power PSU

AMD FM2+ socket. No upgrade....
TBH, I didn't look too hard at that particular model Cisco. The point I was making was that there are shelf units out there which would do what OP wanted.
Mind you, the FM2+ socket doesn't stop upgrades or addition of components other than the CPU, so I'm not accepting that rather final 'No'.0 -

Much cheaper than buying built.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0
