Travel Insurance (Family+World-wide) Recommendation Based On Service, Not Just Price

Hello,
I know there are a hundred comparison sites out there for Travel Insurance but after looking at 'reviews' half of them are from people who never actually made a claim and the other half from people who had problems, very little positive feedback. What's the point in posting a review for something you've never really used (you wouldn't review for TV that you've never switched-on)?
In the past I just chose something cheap, but a few years ago we needed medical cover when our daughter had an accident on holiday so now I'm a lot more serious about who I use for cover.
On that occasion and ever since I've used InsureFor.com. Once you've had a good experience during a medical emergency you tend to stay loyal. However their premier policy cancellation cover doesn't meet the cost of this year's US holiday so I think I'm going to have to go elsewhere
MSE suggests LV but when I look at TrustPilot (or other review sites) there's the regular string of negative tales which doesn't give me much confidence.
I'm hoping there's someone with positive feedback from LV or another provider after a recent claim?
Thanks
Jim

I've never claimed for treatment overseas but Columbus paid us back £6000 for cancelling due to health problems last year. I was all ready for a fight over the definition of pre-existing conditions but they were fine.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I've had good experiences with Insure And Go - had to claim for a broken foot and they were great.
I'd avoid LV personally, I've had dealings with them in the past and they are a nightmare.0 -
After getting quotes from both Colombus & Insure And Go it made me realise that the Cancellation limits I've been looking at are 'per person', not a limit for the policy. I'd not thought of that before so it means I can stick with my usual InsureFor if I want.
I really appreciate your replies though, if it wasn't for the mention of your Columbus £6000 claim I wouldn't have realised.0
