Alpha CB28 needs topping up regularly

Hi everyone.

We have an old Alpha CB28 condenser boiler which works just fine, or so we thought. My missus told me that she had to keep topping it up once a month, which I thought was strange and now she says she is doing it every day or so.

Reading other threads I thought I would check all piping for leaks as this could be a cause. I found a wet patch in the master bedroom on the carpet and the joint was wet. I have since tightened it up.

My question is: How much of a leak would cause the tank to need topping up regularly?

Many thanks

  • Its doesn’t need to be gushing out like a fountain just a slight weep will de-pressurise a system

I tightened the valve nut and everything seems to be fine now. A two minute job. Saved a fortune on calling out an engineer (the missus idea).
