Closing Claim Payment?

Hey all, I've been in and out of work for about 9 months now and I've built up a bit of a cushion as I live at my girlfriends with her parents and don't have any massive bills to pay. However throughout the 9 months I've been on JSA claiming the standard unemployment benefits when I wasn't working. Currently I'm not working, but I'm fed up with travelling to the Job Centre and all the hassle that comes with it, it's really getting me down. I'm planning on closing my claim today. Although I do need to know if I close my claim, just because I don't want to claim anymore, will I still get paid for the past few weeks of job seeking at meeting up with my Jobs Officer. I'd usually get paid on the 15th, this friday but I want it closing today. Will they pay me till today, the last meeting or not at all, considering I was still following the rules and doing what was expected of me?

Why don't you wait as it's only a couple of days. :)

If you close the claim and not get any benefits you wont get NI credits either, important for future benefits or/and state pension.

I would, but it's another trip down within those couple of days which is why I'm keen to get this sussed, if they paid me till today or the even last meeting I would rather miss out on a few quid then walk all the way down and talk to my miserable officer tbh

To simply answer your question. You will receive payment til the day before you sign off.

You DO NOT have to give a reason to sign off whatever the reason might be. If you phone and sign off you should follow it up in writing keeping a copy.
