Voluntarily leaving temporary job/JSA

I started a temp job this week which is due to last for the next fortnight. Before starting I signed off JSA, which I had been claiming since last December, when my last temp position ended.
Unfortunately, I have found myself in a job that I hate. Long story short, I was misled by the temp agency I used and what was sold to me as being 'general admin role' (which I have a lot of experience in) turned out to be sales (which I have never done or wanted to do).. I am the last person in the world who you would expect to find working in a sales role and long story short, I want to leave.
Am I right in thinking that if I do leave voluntarily, however, that I won't be able to claim JSA again?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Not for a number of weeks.
Can you not just sacked?
Or stick it out for 2 weeks?
I mean you can just tell the boss to foxtrot Oscar and be sacked on the spot0 -
Why not for a number of weeks? What if I quit, waited until the two weeks was up, then when I signed on again I told them that them that the temping contract had finished? Would they check? Ideally, I'll find something else between now and then, but if I don't I wouldn't want to risk loosing JSA as a fallback.0

They could check yes. they might not.
You don't want to risk it, so don't risk it.
I know that some jobs are bloody awful but surely you can stick at it for two weeks. I stuck out a call centre job one summer knowing I was off to uni in 6 weeks. Cold calling. I used to sit and ring my own mobile just so I knew no one would pick up when I was sick of it. Would just hang up whenever anyone said 'no thanks' instead of pushing. I was asked about my figures every week from about week 3 but I would just say I had lots of leads for next week. I wouldn't have lasted much longer than the 6 weeks, but I didn't need to!
Just half !!!! it if you really hate sales. But there's no point risking it.0 -
Wouldn't the Temp Agency need to give you a P45? That would have your leaving date on it?0

Why don't you stick it out and keep searching for another job, surely its got to be better than claiming JSA?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

EVen if you told them to Foxtrot Oscar and got the sack yu would still be sanctioned.
You cant just collect money from the public purse just because you don't like a job you've been given.
I wonder how many people hate the job they are doing and have been doing for years who hate it
Just get on with it for a couple of weeks and take responsibility for yourself.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If you have a copy of the job description, and it bears no relationship to the job you are expected to do, I wouldn't expect you to be sanctioned. I would check direct with the JC before doing anything though.0

True, I just meant have a poor performance / other issues situation.
Since the OP is employed by the agency, rather than the actual company, it coul dbe down to a 'didn't meet requirements' situation.0 -
I know someone let go from a temp position only very recently - only had to suffer 7 days (she often thought I was kidding about my own experiences)
Here's how she done it : Turned up late one occasion and kept asking so many questions so much so that the client wanted her gone as they didn't feel she would cope alone when it came to it - that's one way to do it, although she was one of them that goes to work for fun and her heart really wasn't in it at all from the moment the appointment was made which probably helped.
I would just try and have a really bad day if you've not already or if the agency ask, then be truthful, the chat can go a long way I can assure you nobody wants to pay a wage to someone who feels or appears out of their depth - temporary sales jobs rarely last and were the pits, again I even knew mid ok performers as temps disposed off after a few weeks on a 4 month assignment without any regard if targets slipped so no judging here.0
