Please check out website https://www.whocallsme.com and type in these numbers 01162253840 and 01392686000. The forums on these numbers make interesting reading. It appears that this company is seriously dodgy. I receive calls from both of these numbers constantly and it seems that calling them back can eat up your credit and if you give your bank details they take the money anyway! Dont know how much of the stuff on these forums is true obviously but something seems weird about it so I would stay away!
I have reported it to Watchdog asking them to investigate it. If they are a genuine company they need to change their ethics!0 -
So glad I was able to check here about the Money Club. I NEVER buy on impulse (nor after being hassled for ages on the phone.) I got a call this pm, and I listened to what the lady had to say. (Call centre is based in Brum). Meanwhile I was checking here to see what you other good folks had to say. She/we spoke for 16m 54 secs(!), then I eventually told her it wasn't for me. I think she's reading from cards - when I made a comment about surfing the web to find better prices for myself, she insisted her company can do better. I disaggreed, and still do. In the end I politely told her it's not for me. This is a record phone call (at the other party's cost) I must try and eke it out to a 20 minute call next time I get a telesales call! We could even make a competition of it?!:rotfl:0

Hi, my first thread. Found all your comments useful as I have been contacted by George of the Money Club today. He was very persuasive, but I managed to get him to call me back in a day or two... I wanted to do some research; and in addition to what I've seen here [had hoped to see comments from Martin] I've found these Reviews too: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/The_Money_Club__6486101
Hope this helps everyone?0 -
My mum was a member a while ago - they dont do anything you cant do yourself... but then some people are a lot better at searching for deals then others.
But to be honest - I'll happily find anyone a good deal on anything - and i'll just charge £29!!!0 -
I have just had a 20 minute phone conversation with a chap called (something) Bishop, not quite sure of first name. He has tried to get me to join this money club. I gave him as much detail as I could and then warning bells sounded when he asked for my bank details. I told him that I did not get any banking details on the telephone. He was most insistant. I did not ask him to phone me and I told him that I was not interested. He was just like a time-share salesman and would not give up. In the end I informed him that he had given me a massive headache and that I was going to hang up.
Please, if anyone reads this, do not and I repeat DO NOT engage in any conversation with them.

Please please please avoid these people like the plague. the sales staff sound very plausible and friendly - but once they have your details you come up against a wall of denial and mis information. The trial period is so limited (not a month - 28 days - note this) - and even though the sales staff informed me that the trial would not start until I had received my information pack and membership number (a pre requisite to be able to access their poxy site) the "customer service rep" claims its from the moment they sign you up for the trial.
I am a stubborn man and will not just forget the fact that this company has taken my money - I urge you all to stay well clear and warn all tour friends to stay away from The Money Club.0 -
Please use your local shops instead of spending all day trying to save a fiver by buying from faceless, often foreign, internet box-shifters.
If you don't use your local businesses they will die. Then where will you go to touch, feel and try out your goods?
If local businesses die, many people will become unemployed, claim benefits and there will be fewer people paying less tax. In the end we'll all have to pay more taxes to meet the shortfall.
Instead of spending all afternoon on the internet saving a fiver, work an hour longer to earn a fiver and spend it on your local high street.
The goods on your high street cost more not because local traders are greedy, but because they have ABSOLUTELY HUGE rents, rates and tax bills. Someone working from an industrial unit or back room has hardly any business overheads - they are the greedy ones because they never pass the full savings on to you.
Please think about this a little bit.0
