Hi, this ones a strange one. My friend booked us a holiday to Spain next month and we are flying with Ryanair. when she was booking she only used the last name of my double surname, missing out the first name and hyphen of my surname. e.g real name;John Craig-Smith... she wrote; John Smith! On my passport my name is hyphenated. ive searched loads of threads and cant find an answer anywhere. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!! will i be charged to change it or will it be ok

What's the question? Do you want to know if ryanair will still allow you to fly?
Ring them and ask. If they say no, they may allow a free name change. If they charge you, you might be able to split the cost with your friend.

I would suggest that you contact Ryanair via their live chat facility to explain what has happened and ask (nicely) if they will amend. If you do this quickly, typically 24-48 hours after booking they may amend without a charge.

The name on the booking must match your passport.

BA let my daughter fly in the same circumstances. You can call and ask, or turn up on the day and try your luck.

As others have said, speak to the airline.

Strictly speaking, your surname is hyphenated and should be shown on a ticket as Craigsmith/John. The hyphen is the critical point, but this is Ryanair, so only they will have the answer. Ask that any answer is confirmed to you by email so that you can print this off and take it with you in case you experience any problems.
  • Thank you all for your help! i spoke to Ryanair live chat and they updated my name with no problems atall! amazing!!! i can now start looking forward to my holiday
