Amex Direct Debit mystery

in Credit cards
The direct debit for my Amex PRG charge card is set up for the 11th, and has always come out of my account previously on that date - so I know the DD is set up correctly. It is still showing in my direct debits on Barclays online banking as active.
Anyway, Amex now shows my balance as having been paid in full by DD yesterday and now has a zero balance, but there's still no sign of the money having been taken from my account. There were more than sufficient funds available (plus an unused overdraft limit of about 10x the card balance), there is no other indication that it has bounced.
Has anyone else come across this before? Is this just normal Amex behaviour and I haven't noticed it previously?

^^I agree^^
It's normal that they assume the money is paid when they request the DD - even though it doesn't yet show as drawn on your current account.Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty

I noticed this with my card, but in my case there was a weekend in between:
- Usual Direct Debit date 2nd of the month.
- This month (April), that fell on a Saturday
- Money didn't leave my account until Tuesday 5th
- My Amex account showed a zero balance with the paid amount from Sunday 3rd.
Strange, but true.1 -
mine is 11/12th too, and yes, should be no problem at all.0

Yes this has also happened to me a few times, so seems to be normal and nothing to worry about.0
