Fixed tariff - leaving country
Quick question about fixed rate energy tariff contracts:
If I am in a contract and sell/rent out my property (I will be moving abroad), am I typically still liable for the early exit fee?
I am due to renew at the end of the month but will be leaving the country by August, so not sure which tariff best suits me here

That would be unfair wouldn't it?
Short answer, no.
Long answer, no you are not liable for any early exit fees if you leave your property, no matter if you are moving across the road or across the world!
Exit (or early termination) fees only apply when you move your supply to another provider. This is because the supplier to the property still gets to charge whoever takes over responsibility of the property after you.0 -
Great! Thanks. I assumed as much, but we all know assumptions can be expensive.0
