I rather expected our 'legally trained' expert Barry might've asked those questions, but never mind. ;)

I've watched Better Call Saul, does that count? ;)

Not my job at all. I merely wanted to point out that forfeiting the money was not as cut and dried as some seemed to think. I am just saying that the OP should check and take advice himself, not believe those who said he had no rights at all. Then it's up to him. He might just save some money.

This negativity and ignorance of the law is why, when I have helped people on MSE before it has been via PM. I tend not to bother these days.

    Oh. Sorry. My mistake.

It's just that I really did think that anyone, especially legally qualified people, would make sure they had all pertinent information before offering an opinion.

But as I said... never mind.

You should be aware that anyone on this forum offers advice in a private capacity only. You are right that the full facts are very rarely available so it is always a quick opinion and a point towards the information online.

I am actually retired now but find it distasteful when people with no knowledge or qualification whatsoever come on the consumer threads and tell people they have no rights or recourse. MSE should be removing inaccurate nonsense such as that but probably have neither the time nor the expertise to do so.

Why would they of got travel insurance? They could of only been going round the corner depending on where the conference centre is.
