ARC Europe debt chasing

I'm being chased for a debt by ARC Europe for gym membership. I am disputing the claim because the gym did not fulfil its promises - so many things wrong with it. Has anyone had any experience of dealing with them? They have sent two threatening letters saying they'll take me to court.

I complained to the general manager about the various things promised when I joined and that had not happened. so many faults with equipment, changing areas etc. They said tough luck and that a DCA would be in touch0

Things don't get corrected at the flick of a switch.
How much notice did you give the gym for the faults to be sorted ?
Eg did you leave the following day, a week later ?0
