If so you almost certainly have an Assured tenancy (not an Assured shorthold tenancy), unless before you moved in you were given a "Section 20" notice saying you had an assured shorthold tenancy. When did you last sign a tenancy agreement? (You may have signed an AST but almost certainly actually have an assured tenancy - see..

If so, any s21 notice is probably invalid: Please confirm it was or was not a s21 notice.
'Phone Shelter 0808 800 4444 and talk things through with them.
not signed anything since 96.:footie:0 -
Has the current landlord bought the place from your original landlord??
You don;t recall being served an s20 before you 1st moved in??
Call Shelter, please, 0808 800 4444.0 -
Phone Shelter, but it's highly likely that you cannot be evicted (except in a few circumstances - e.g. rent arrears0

no the home is owned by an old lady and run by an agency.:footie:0 -
You can use Shelter's tenancy checker here:
http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/downloads_and_tools/tenancy_checker
this will confirm what kind of tenancy you have.
In turn, that will dictate whether/how you can be evicted.
Note: this (and all posts above) assume you are in England orWales. Scotland/ N Ireland have different rules.
Has the old lady perhaps dies? If so, the Executers or Beneficiaries of her Estate may have decided to evict - however it makes no difference to your rights. If someone inherits the property, they inherit the tenant and tenancy as well!0 -
Finding your original tenancy agreement would be useful. Does it refer to an assured tenancy?0

Is that the case or am I misremembering? It might be relevant.
yes ive had problems they wouldn't do repairs and still haven't despite me asking loads of times.
I don't know whether to write and ask the reason and say how disgusted I am they couldn't discuss things with me or just keep quiet.:footie:0 -

I thought the same just say thanks for your letter and how disgusted I am that after being your tenant for 20 years you couldn't treat me better.:footie:0

Ignore it (for now) but quietly establish your rights:
* AST or AT?
* If AST, S21 valid or invalid?
Once you know that, you can decide the best way forward eg:
* write and assert your rights, or
* do nothing till it goes to court and then assert your rights
* see if you get further communication nearer the time, and then decide if a response is appropriate
etc0
