Rough cost for hanging new doors?

I want to change 9 varnished pine doors for new white ones. Leaving out the cost of doors, handles, latches, what should I roughly expect to pay for someone to hang each door (or discount for 9??) and should I go with a carpenter or multi-tasking 'builder'? I live in Norfolk. I know this is hard to be precise about, but it would help me gauge things when I approach tradesmen.

  • The money saving way would be to paint them.

Day and half to two days work, £150-200 a day.

Two days work. £300-£350 in total.

I am currently paying chippies £160 a day. It shouldn't take a decent one more than two days to hang nine doors unless there are some really awkward problems.

I paid £40 per door to my local carpenter a few years ago.

Some doors were simple as the frames were square, others took far longer where they were out of true due to some historic movement. The cost per door was the same allowing for this variation.
  • Thanks for all responses. Some of the doors (2 x bathroom) have warped a bit and you have to lean hard against them to slide the catch home - hence not planning to strip and paint them.
It sounds like it may be better to agree a daily rate rather than a price per door then.
Would a carpenter get a good price on new doors etc. rather than me going to B&Q etc.?
