Hi all,
my promotional period is about to expire on my credit card and lave me with a woppin £5k at 15% APR!
i have been self employed since april and i suppose this means I'm not a safe bet for lenders - I don't earn that much (early days)
before i try to apply for credit anywhere i thouht i'd ask what you all think.
incidentally, i've been with the hsbc for years and they have a credit card at 4.9% APR on balance transfers, which is the next best option if i can't find a decent APR anywhere else - i don't know if they'll consider me for a card, but as a customer, they may?
thanks in advance or any advise

I know that when you applying for a credit card the best situation is to be in a full time job as this means a secure income which credit card companys like. Being self employed as you have stated is a risk for them. However I see no reason why you shouldn't apply. The majority of companies do offer cards even when you are self employed. I know some of the Gold/platinum cards have restrictions on. For example how much income you earn and your age. So its worth checking the criteria before you apply.0
