Lives in Own Mortgaged Home With Partner...What Student Grants/Loans?

Hello...
My partner is seriously thinking of enrolling full-time for a nursing degree...
The problem is that we are currently working full time and have a new mortgage...we have no savings due to the mortgage.
We are aware of a nursing bursary, but where do we stand regarding any loans or grants?
Ive read the Student finance guide on this website, but we're thinking all talk of means testing relating to parents doesnt apply to us because we have our own home.
I earn £18k and she currently earns £12k and are both full-time...obviously she would be giving up her full-time job for the degree and drop to part-time hours.
What sort of help would she be entitled to in this situation?
Thanks in advance

Hi
I know you will automatically be entitled to a 25% reduction on council tax..
As you work over 30 hrs you will possibly be entitled to some working tax credits (they will only take your wage into account and disregard all bursaries and loans from uni...)
you wouldn't get Housing Benefit because you own your home so it would be case of trying to get bursary, tax creds, and loans to equal the wage you will lose so you could keep up with mortgage repayments....
HTH Mel xUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Thanks!
She has an appointment with Learndirect now too, so hopefully more advice will come out of that0
