M25 - When do the cameras actually flash?

Hey guys, driving on the M25 I'll cross the speed cameras at 80mph.
Others I see going at least 90mph.
As the speed limit is 70, when does the camera actually flash?

Speed camera don't need to flash these days. That's old technology.0

We saw some flashing a couple of weeks ago, near M40 on the anti clockwise side.0

That's quite possible - some still do.0 -
My understanding is they are only used when the variable speed limit is enforced. There was a bit in the news about this changing on another road.0

There's really only one easy way to find out - increase your speed gradually until you do get a ticket, then reduce it a bit. And hope they don't change the threshold. Let us know how it goes.0 -
They could use an infrared flash, as this won't dazzle oncoming drivers.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

As Inposted above there are extra cameras on posts beside the road aswell as the older ones above the roadway.
Apparently they made the ones in the average speed limit zone active all the time some time last year.
If you have Waze all the cameras on the M25 are marked.
Currently driving a 1.4i Berlingo and a Picanto 1.0 so unintentional speeding is not a huge issue for me at the moment.0 -

Car54, there are new speed cameras going up all over Norwich with the brand name Truvelo.
They have a separate post next to the camera with an infrared flash.
The idea being that as they take a picture of the cars going towards them,( in order to also capture the drivers' faces), the flash does not go off in their eyes.
Amazing how considerate they are these days!0
