Hi,
I am looking for advice regarding benefits and tax credits please. My OH is taking 39 weeks maternity leave inside one tax year. I currently earn £25000 per annum. We are expecting our first child next month and we will be taking a significant drop in income due to maternity pay. I am looking at benefits and tax credits which we may be eligible for but it is quite confusing. Any advice about which benefits we may be eligible for would be greatly appreciated.

The limit for tax credits for one child is £26,000 (£41,000 if using childcare). Your earnings plus her SMP and remainder of salary would push you above this so no entitlement initially.
You'd get child benefit £20.70 per week.0
