Christmas Markets

Thanks for all the info.
I'm now considering Berlin, as the flights are direct from Glasgow at good times, can anyone advise on hotels or the best place/area to stay?
Also, how do i find my posts once Ive left the page as I have had to go and search for it and look through them all till I find it?
I travel to Berlin and I have mobility issues (use crutches and or wheelchair ) the u bahn buses and trams network is fantastically accesible for wheelchair users and most underground (u bahn) stations are accesible (or you can arrange a representative of BVG to accompany you whilst using the transport to ensure you get from a to b in an accesible way ) I will warn you most of the markets are spread out across the city e.g alexanderplatz, gendarmenmarkt, potsdamer platz are central but others are further out (remembering that in effect berlin is two cities in one).
I personally think you would be better off going to a place with one central market eg munich or dresden.
If you do go to berlin it is a fantastic place. I always stay around Mitte or Kreuzberg although others prefer around Kudamm. I would suggest you get a hotel near a U bahn for easy and speedy travel rather than waiting at a bus or tram stop where they don't have seats to stop and rest.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Please can we not talk about Christmas markets in May? (But I'd agree that Birmingham was poor in 2015 - lots of stalls but many duplicates).0

I'm planning the first may bank holiday weekender in 2017.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

consider Poland as an alternative - Krakow or Poznan both have good ones and its a lot cheaper"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

Hi, Its definitely Berlin now!
Just need some input on what area to stay where's nice? happy to be close to one market and can travel to the others. I'm thinking between alexander platz or gendarmenmarkt. Would prefer somewhere with coffee shops, shops and food places nearby.

we stayed at the Hilton, got a staff rate through relatives. Great but expensive.
Best MSE tip is to eat in the noodle bars and go to the tourist office by the Brandenburg Gate early to get half price tickets for that nights shows. We say four great shows in 5 days!0
