Sky TV upping their prices again. Is it even worth it?

Here at Sky, we continue to bring you great quality shows, new ways to watch and brilliant customer service. We're emailing to tell you all about what's coming and to let you know your Sky subscription price is going up by £6.00 a month from 1 June 2016.

There was a time when my Sky bill, with the sports, was around £20 a month. Every year it has gone up by at least a £1 and every year I watch less and less TV through it. This will probably be the final nail for me. Since I purchased my first property, I have been approached about getting a satellite installed, found new ways to watch TV through my phone and there is less and less need for it.

What do you guys think? And what alternatives do you use?

If you don't watch it, cancel it. Or phone up and negotiate a discount. No point paying for it if you don't use it.

Alternatives to Sky are Virgin, BT, TalkTalk or standalone subscriptions to the likes of NetFlix... Digital TV isn't cheap these days.

    Rather an extreme measure .

However,if you mean satellite dish, then you already have one, if you have Sky tv, and can use it to watch free to view channels, but not record, without a subscription.

Never thought I'd cancel after having Sky since the early nineties but I did last week. I'm now looking at Freesat plus some movie pay to view, not sorted anything yet.

I've just ditched Sky after a number of years. I used to watch a lot more when I was single, particularly Sky Sports for football, cricket and golf. Sky was a necessity. But now I watch a lot less and BT have nicked a lot of football, so I've decided to switch to BT. I can get pretty much the same entertainment channels, some football and now use Netflix for movies and boxsets and it's less than half the price, meaning I can use the occasional day pass for Sky Sports through NOW TV if my team is on sky and still save plenty of money.
