Will Sky error ruin my house purchase?

Options
In a nutshell.

I left a property in February and spoke to Sky and was told the balance of the account was zero. After this a cancellation fee was applied to the account. I was unaware of this and Sky have only communicated this in writing to the old address I no longer live at

I only made aware of the balance when I got an email today from capital resolve needing payment of £17.93. I have called sky and paid this instantly.

I am in the process of buying a house and don't know if this will affect my credit score. Which until now I have been building up.

Does a credit recovery agency contacting me mean I will have an impacted credit score?

I am raising a complaint today.

I can't be 100% certain on this, but I think Sky DON'T report their customers to the CRAs, in which case you've nothing to worry
    about.

If it's been reported to one or more of your credit files, it will be something that lenders won't look positively on.

Anything it does to your credit score is of no importance.
  • When I view my credit report online to date there is no reference to Sky. Obviously the debt won't have been reported yet, but I can't see them reporting I'm up to date either. So no presence

I've checked with several credit reference agencies and I see no mention of Sky on any of them.

I don't recall signing a credit agreement either, not even verbally so I'm unsure if they can even report it.
  • Thanks starting to feel a little better about this. Having a valuation done on the property we are buying today and this is really overshadowed it.
