speeding ticket

My dh was caught on a speed camera overtaking and he was doing 65-70 on a 60 road, it was a poilce van with speed camera and didnt see him til it was too late, the guy signalled to dh that he had been caught.
my question is how long does it take to get the ticket in and how much and does he gets points, this will be his first speeding offence, not making excuses for him as he deserves all that he gets:D
thing is we are off to florida in 4 weeks, so would we get the ticket in the post by then?

You should recieve a Notice of Intended Prosecution within 14 days of the offence assuming the vehicle is registered to your correct address.
Very likely he'll get 3 points and £60 fine if he pays up with in the specified time.0 -
And if you don't get the ticket within 14 days, but you do receive it after that then do not respond to it. I got caught in Wales at the toll but the notice arrived 15 days later so I phoned them up and got off with it. It's a slim hope, I know, but I wonder how many people do get notices more than 14 days after the offence but pay up and get points on their licence becasue they don't know about the 14-day rule.0

As mentioned above you should get something within 14 days. Mine was within a week along with notice of 3 points and £60 fine.

The 14 days rule, how does it apply? Do you need to get it in your doorstep by 14 days or they need to post it within 14 days?Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

Assuming the policeman didn't stop your OH the registered keeper of the vehicle will be sent a form asking them to declare who was driving. If OH is the keeper then he admits as much and sends it back. If OH is not the keeper then the keeper has to tell police who was driving. Either way OH will eventually have to admit he was the driver. Police will then write with alternatives. 1. attend Speed Awareness Course (three hours, classroom based, within four months of the offence) cost £60 no points on licence. 2. Fixed penalty £60 + 3 points. 3. See you in court.
I don't know if 1. is available everywhere. It is only available to people with no current speeding convictions and who weren't going well over the limit.
2. Only applies if you weren't too far over the limit.
3. For loonies and those who want to offer a defence.
The time scales these things work to should mean that you won't miss any deadlines if you are only going to Florida for 2 weeks0 -

It's needs to be 'served' within 14 days, so if you get stopped by a Police Officer, they will often issue the NIP at the roadside. If it's in the post, you need to receive it. This does afford more time however if the registered keepers details are not up to date though.0 -
